Jamies Vater verkauft seine Pferde ohne Vorwarnung – und Jamie verliert ausgerechnet Snap. Gillian setzt alles daran, ihm in einer Situation zu helfen, die tiefer geht als nur ein verlorenes Pferd.
Jamie drove to his family’s stable in Crescent Moon Village. When he arrived, a horse trailer was standing in the driveway. Inside was Coffee. His father approached him — leading Robin, another one of Jamie’s horses.
Mr. Springflower: “Oh? What stranger dares to show up here?! Get out of my way. I need to load the horses for sale!”
Jamie: “What?! Absolutely not, Dad! Those are my horses — I’m taking them with me. Where’s Snap? I’m taking him too!”
Jamie was in shock. He took Coffee and Robin straight back to Meadowland.
Jamie: “Do we maybe have room for two homeless horses?”
Gillian: “Where did you find them? Wait… isn’t that Coffee? Yes — that’s your Coffee.”
We settled both of them into the stable.
Gillian: “Well, they’re not homeless anymore. Now tell me — why did you bring them?”
Jamie: “I just wanted to pick up a few things from my parents’. When I arrived, my father was loading them into a trailer to sell them. They’re my horses, so I took them.”
When Jamie tried to get Snap as well, his father blocked him from entering the stable. When Jamie forced his way inside anyway — Snap’s stall was empty. He demanded to know where Snap was. His father simply walked away — threatening to call the police. Poor Jamie. Snap meant more to him than any other horse… and then to have a father like that. He was devastated. Jamie was crushed. His father had sold Snap without telling him — and refused to say to whom. I called Claire. Nothing. I contacted every jumping and sales stable I could think of. Nothing.
Gillian: “…his name is Snap, registration number SE 1234 56789… you have no record of that horse… thank you.”
There was only one option left. I had to speak to Jamie’s father myself.
Gillian: “Mr. Springflower, please tell Jamie where Snap is. He loves that horse.”
Mr. Springflower: “My dear son ran off and left us — and his horses. We invested so much in his career. And this is the thanks we get? The horse is gone. The other two he took. I’m done with Jamie.”
He truly was an unpleasant man. Only then did I understand the pressure Jamie had lived under for years. No wonder he had to escape. Snap was already sold. How was I supposed to tell Jamie? Just then, my phone rang. It was Esmeralda Holdsworth asking to meet. I gladly agreed — maybe she had information. We met at the bazaar. She brought her friend Bonny, the watchmaker. A fascinating woman. While we were talking, my eyes fell on a horse for sale. That was Snap. I recognized him instantly — he and Coffee had trained together at our ranch because of past trauma. That was Jamie’s horse. There was only one thing to do. I bought Snap. Back at Meadowland, Jamie was standing in Coffee’s stall.
Gillian: “I’m back! Look — I brought you something from the bazaar.”
Jamie: “For me? From the bazaar? What kind of prank is this now?”
He turned around.
Jamie: “SNAP!!! Oh my God, Gillian, I love you! How did you find him? I’m so happy!”
Seeing Jamie that happy was worth every single Star Coin Snap had cost. That evening, we sat by the campfire. Jamie put his arm around me.
Jamie: “Gillian, I was devastated. I doubted everything. I don’t know how to thank you. You’re the best thing that’s ever happened to me. We make a really good team.”
Gillian: “Yes, we do. You see? I’d do anything to make you happy. And next — you’ll only pay half the rent for your stalls.”
